Inspirations

December 5, 2013 Deanna 2 Comments

Hannukah is known as the holiday of light, and this Hannukah Danya and I decided to take part in a project curated by Iris Fogel Ben Hamou, from the blog, The Colorful Way. The project is an opportunity for us (bloggers) to share with you (readers) what inspires us and gives us light.

For as long as I can remember myself, I have an affinity to indulge completely in my surroundings. A short walk for me means that I will touch a leaf I found on the ground, or be in awe at the color of the sky at a particular moment, or look through a fence at the distance. As a food stylist, I’m challenged with each new project to be creative, conceptualize the images and make them come to life.

In order to do this, I pull inspiration from the bank of mental images I store in my mind from my every day surroundings. But like all art, I find inspiration also in the work of others-photographers, painters, textile designers, etc. In order to find those works, used to mean scouring the internet for hours or searching through magazines and books. Today I religiously use pinterest when I need visual references for inspiration.

Here’s a look at the things that inspire me:
