Who We Are

When I tell people that I'm a food photographer everyone asks, "Is it real food that you photograph? Do you eat it after the shoot?" My answer is yes and yes- everything that I shoot is real and I do eat the food I photograph. I guess I have one of the coolest jobs as I spend most of my days amongst the best chefs in Israel, photographing, eating, and then I do it all over again.

I finished my B.A. in Photography from Hadassah college ten years ago and since then I've been photographing food. I have a charming studio in the heart of Jaffa, where I shoot for cookbooks, food articles in the Israeli culinary magazine, Al Hashulchan and all sorts of other clients from the food industry-you can check out my work at my website www.danyaphoto.com to get an impression of the work that I do.

Deanna and I are going to share with you our culinary experiences, and we have a lot to share!

I actually don't like telling people what I do, because it can never just end with that. When I tell people that I am a food stylist- they get this really funny look on their faces- like "Did I really just hear that?" So yes- I am a food stylist-meaning I make food (and the setting which surrounds it) look beautiful.

I started out (or ended up, after a B.A. and almost M.A. in International Relations) at culinary school in Israel (where I moved from LA in 2003). From there I went to work in the kitchen at some of the top restaurants in Tel Aviv, until it took away my love for home cooking. So I went back to the basics- making good food that looks as good as it tastes. Now I'm doing what I love, food styling and editing cookbooks, and I'm here to share my love for beautiful cooking with the rest of you. Check out my website (under construction) www.deannalinder.com for contact info.

Hi Deanna. I am finding myself in the same predicament. Graduated culinary school and really not enjoying being on the line. Did you take specific food styling courses or just used the techniques from the restaurant world to get started. I love your blog and the recipes you have on here. Thanks for sharing your passion :)

  19. Hi Deanna and Danya!

I hope this email finds you great.

My name is Adriana Canellas and I work for the canadian television production company Trio Orange.

We are currently in pre-production of a travel series titled The Foodie List where our viewers and future visitors will discover 13 different cities around the world through their relationship with their cuisine.

A foodie seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger and food has become one of the top 3 reasons why people travel and choose a country over another.

During these 13 episodes we look forward to show our viewers the uniqueness of a dining experience in each of the 13 cities we visit. With The Foodie List, we will discover your most iconic, colourful and avantgarde dishes through food experts, journalists, food bloggers, chefs and foodies in general who will tell us about your culture while presenting these meals.

During this worldwide tour we are really looking forward to including and presenting Israeli cuisine and we are extremely interested in devoting a whole episode of 1 hour to the city of Tel Aviv.

We are now looking for 4 food bloggers who will take our international viewers on this journey of culinary discovery in each city we visit tasting and telling us about your unique dishes.

The series will be broadcast on the Canadian travel network Evasion which has 2.000.000 viewers per week. The series will be broadcast on 2016, several times a week and an average of 3 times a year during a 3 year period.

As our previous series, Unique Hotels and Restaurants, The Foodie List will also be distributed by Lagardere Groupe in Europe and Asia and broadcast on Discovery and National Geographic in 2016.

Please find a synopsis of the show attached herein.

Our trip is scheduled this upcoming March and April. Dates in Tel-Aviv to be confirmed.

In the hope that you find the project interesting and assuring you and your city maximum visibility and exposure on an international scale I look forward to hearing back from you and I thank you very much for your interest in the series.

    Best regards,
